Instructions for the Late Samir Al-Rifai Chair for Jordanian Studies
Article 1
These instructions shall be called (Instructions for the Late Samir Al-Rifai Chair for Jordanian Studies) and shall come into force as of 3/1/2010.
Article 2
The following words and phrases, wherever mentioned in these instructions, shall have the meanings assigned to them below, unless the context indicates otherwise:
- The University: Yarmouk University
- The President: President of Yarmouk University
- The Center: Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service
- The Chair: Late Samir Al-Rifai Chair for Jordanian Studies
- The Council: Chair Council
Article 3
A chair called the Late Samir Al-Rifai Chair for Jordanian Studies shall be established at the Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service at Yarmouk University.
Article 4
Objectives of the Chair: The Chair aims to:
- Conduct studies and research related to Jordan from the establishment of the Emirate to the present time.
- Contribute to disseminating knowledge about Jordan's civilizational and historical development since the establishment of the Emirate, and its relations with neighboring countries and global powers.
- Study the lives of Jordanian pioneers, politicians, and prominent figures and their impact on building the Jordanian state.
- Organize conferences, seminars, and workshops related to Jordan and its cultural, social, and economic environment and its political and regional role.
- Contribute to researching and analyzing the intellectual and political heritage of political leaders and their impact on development and modernization in Jordan.
Article 5
The Chair Council shall be composed as follows:
- The University President or his representative as Chairman
- The Center Director as Member and Secretary
- The Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies as Member
- Two specialists appointed by the President for a period of three years
Article 6
The Council shall undertake the following tasks:
- Establish the general policy of the Chair in accordance with the university's regulations and instructions.
- Supervise the Chair's funds, develop them, control expenditures, and approve the Chair's budget and annual financial statement.
- Review the annual work program for studies and research to be conducted by the Chair and approve them.
- Review the annual report on the Chair's achievements submitted by the Chair holder.
Article 7
This Chair shall be held by a faculty member with the rank of professor appointed by a decision of the Deans' Council based on a nomination from the Council. Researchers or workers may be appointed to this Chair through contracts for a specified period based on a nomination from the Council and a decision from the President.
Article 8
The Chair's funds shall consist of amounts deposited by donors for the Chair in a special account at the university.
Article 9
Expenditures for this Chair shall be made from its funds by a decision of the President, and the signatures of both the President and the Financial Director shall be required on bank checks.
Article 10
The Council shall meet upon invitation from the Council Chairman.
Article 11
The Chair holder shall submit a detailed report on the academic, administrative, and financial status of the Chair at the end of each fiscal year to the Council.
Article 12
The accounts of the Chair's funds shall be audited by the Audit Bureau.
Article 13
The Council Chairman and the Center Director are responsible for implementing the provisions of these instructions.
Article 14
These instructions repeal the instructions of the Chair of the Late Mr. Samir Al-Rifai for Jordanian Studies No. (3) of 1998.
